Manage product categories

Create categories like "Beverages" or "Dairy" that make it easy to filter and classify your products

Create a category

To create a product category in Holded follow these steps:

  1. Go to Inventory > Dashboard in the navigation bar.

  2. Under "Product Properties," click Product Categories.

  3. In the corresponding section, click on "+New category":

  4. Give the category a name

  5. Choose between marking:

    • Text / Number, if you need an empty text field to fill in for each product.

    • Options, if you need to specify a value that the category can take within a group of predefined values ​​(type an option and press "Enter" to save it).

  6. Activate the box/es:

    • Show group in orders: if you want the category to appear in the "Inventory View" of your orders.

    • Show group in catalog (only if you have checked "Options"): if you want the group to be shown in the Catalog filters.

  7. Click Save.


Edit a category

  1. In product categories, choose one of the categories that appear in the list.

  2. Applies changes to the category name and/or options.

  3. Click Save.


Delete a category

  1. From product categories, choose one of the categories that appear in the list.

  2. Select Delete and confirm the action.


Assign a category to a product

Follow these steps to assign a category that will appear in the product panel, in the product list, and in the product catalog:

  1. Go to Inventory > Products and locate the product you want.

  2. In the product line, click the three-dot (⋮) button, and select "Edit."

  3. Within the product editor, go to "Categorization" and locate the Categories dropdown:

A. Assign a new category

  1. From the dropdown, select "+New Category".

  2. Type a name for your new category, and then, in the "Type" dropdown, choose between:

    • Text / Number, if you need an empty text field to fill in for each product.

    • Options, if you need to specify a value that the category can take within a group of predefined values. Example: washing machines, refrigerators, induction hobs, etc., within the Appliances category (type an option and press "Enter" to save it).

  3. Activate the box/es:

    • Show group in orders: if you want the category to appear in the Inventory View of your orders.

    • Show group in catalog (only if you have checked "Options"): if you want the group to be shown in the Catalog filters.

  4. Click "Create".

  5. Click again on the "Category" drop-down menu, choose the created category (Appliances), and then choose the option (Refrigerators):

  6. Repeat the operation, assigning as many categories as you need.

  7. Click "Save" in the lower right corner.

B. Assign an existing category

  1. In the drop-down menu, select the desired category.

  2. Repeat the operation, assigning as many categories as you need.

  3. Click "Save" in the lower right corner.


Stop assigning a category to a product

To stop categorizing a product, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Inventory > Products and locate the product you want.

  2. In the product line, click the three-dot (⋮) button, and select "Edit".

  3. Within the product editor, go to "Categorization" and locate the category you want to remove from the product.

  4. Press the "Trash" button to remove said category from that product.

  5. Click Save.


Filter the products by category

Follow these steps to identify all products that have a certain category:

  1. In the product list, click the two-column button ( ☷ ).

  2. Mark the desired categories so that the corresponding column appears in the list:

  3. In the product list, press "+ Filter", and select "Product Categories":

  4. Type one or more values ​​related to your categories (press "Enter" to add them), and press the check box.

  5. You will get a specific list with the selected values.

    Click the sort icon next to the category name to sort products in ascending or descending order.

You can click "Save Segment" to have the custom filter appear by default in the segment list.​


Export products sorted by category

You can export a list of your products filtered by category by following these steps:

  1. Filter products by category, as indicated in the previous section.

  2. Click on the download icon at the top right of the list.


  3. Choose if you want to export the information in .XLSX or PDF.
