Square Payments: what it is and how to integrate it with Holded

Collect your invoices with Square and synchronize payments in Holded

Square Payments is Square’s payment integration with Holded. It allows you to collect card payments for your invoices from the Customer Portal and automatically record payments in your account. Processed payments are transferred to your Square account, usually on the next business day.

This integration is designed to simplify invoice collection, improve your clients’ payment experience, and save time when managing payments.

What can you do with Square Payments?

With Square Payments you can:

  • Charge invoices by card from the Client Portal.

  • Automatically record payments and simplify reconciliation in Holded.

  • Reduce manual tasks and errors in payment management.

  • Offer your clients a convenient and secure payment method.

What does Square Payments not do?

Square Payments is not a sales or e-commerce integration. This means that:

  • It does not create invoices automatically from sales made in Square.

  • It does not sync sales created outside Holded.

  • It does not import products or stock.

How to activate Square Payments in Holded

☝🏼 Remember that you need a Square account to activate this integration.

To integrate Square Payments with Holded, follow these steps:

  • Go to your account (top left) and click Holded Store.

  • In the Integrations section, find and click Square Payments.

  • Click the Activate for free button.

Once the integration is activated:

  1. Connect Square to include it as a payment method in your documents and contacts.

  2. Enable Square as a payment method in the Client Portal.

  3. Add this gateway from Treasury > Accounts to sync your transactions.

💎 When you connect Square as a payment method, the Square Payments gem will automatically be enabled if it wasn’t already.


How to deactivate Square Payments

If you want to deactivate the integration at any time:

  1. Go to your account (top left) and click Holded Store.

  2. Find Square Payments in the Integrations section.

  3. Click Deactivate and confirm the action.

☝🏼 When the gem is deactivated, Square will no longer appear as a payment method in your invoices.
