Add a tax

One of the main advantages of managing your taxes in Holded is that you can add a tax either when creating a sales or expense document or when generating a contact, service, payroll or product.

Adding a tax to a sales or expense document

In the Sales section you can create Invoices, Budgets and Proformas and add a tax to them, following these steps:

  1. Go to Sales and click on Invoices, Budgets or Proforma.

  2. Click on New Invoice, Budget or Proforma.

  3. In the Tax field, select the tax and click on Save.

On the other hand, in the Expenses section, you can create a payroll or an expense (purchase) and although they are different documents, the way to add a tax to them is the same:

  1. Go to Expenses and click on Expenses or Payroll.

  2. Click on New expense or New payroll.

  3. In the Tax field, select the tax and click on Save.

Finally, two important clarifications:

  • The drop-down list shows the taxes linked to the type of document.

  • You can include up to two taxes on each line.


Adding a tax to a contact

  1. Click on Contacts first, then on New contact.

  2. Enter the name and fill in the fields.

  3. Click on the Accounting tab and select the sales or purchase tax, depending on whether the contact is a customer or a supplier.

  4. Click on Create.

Add a tax to a service

  1. Click on Services and click on New service.

  2. Enter the name of the service.

  3. Select the tax in the Tax field. By clicking on the field you can include as many taxes as you want as long as they are of different types, such as VAT and withholding taxes.

  4. Click on Create.

Add a tax to a payroll

  1. Go to Expenses and click on Payroll.

  2. Click on New payroll.

  3. In the Tax field, select the tax and click on Create.

Add a tax to a product

  1. Go to Inventory and click on Products.

  2. Click on New Product. In the Tax field, located in the Rates panel, select the tax. By clicking on the field, you can include as many taxes as you want, as long as they are of different types, such as VAT and withholding taxes.

  3. Click on Save.
