How to set up taxes in Shopify so that Holded reflects them on the invoice?

Holded receives the tax information from Shopify and associates it with the taxes configured in Holded. First of all, confirm that you have set up the tax in Shopify, and that the order is reporting the tax correctly:

  1. In Shopify, go to Settings > Taxes & Duties, and set up the appropriate taxes based on the region or country.

  2. Decide whether taxes are included in the published product prices (total price = subtotal + VAT), or if they are created without tax (subtotal), and this is calculated at checkout.

  3. When creating a product on Shopify, indicate whether you want to charge tax on the sale of that particular product.


How do I get the Shopify price to show as Total in Holded, and subtract the VAT on the invoice?

To have the sale price displayed as Total on the invoice, including the product price and tax,

  1. In Shopify, check the box "Include tax in prices" (under Settings > Taxes & Duties > Decide how tax is charged):

  2. In Holded, also check the box "Include tax in product price" (at Settings > Integrations > Shopify > Sales Sync > Advanced Settings):

Holded will automatically subtract the corresponding VAT when generating the invoice, ensuring that it reflects the final sale price for your customers.


How do I make the Shopify price appear as a Subtotal in Holded, and the VAT is added to the Invoice?

To have the sale price displayed as a Subtotal on the invoice,

  1. In Shopify, check the box "Include taxes in prices" (under Settings > Taxes & Duties > Decide how tax is charged):

  2. In Holded, also check the box "Include tax in product price" (at Settings > Integrations > Shopify > Sales Sync > Advanced Settings):

This way, the invoice will reflect the price as Sales as Subtotal and the corresponding VAT will be added.


What happens if I enable the Include taxes in the product price option when importing my sales?

When you enable this functionality, the Shopify price will be used as total and the default sales tax will be subtracted, while if you disable it the Shopify price will be used as subtotal and the same sales tax will be added.
If you have products with a VAT of 21% and also 10% you will have to modify the taxes manually.
You can consult and modify the assigned tax from Configuration>Invoicing>Sales and Purchases.


What are the tax correction lines that appear on imported orders?

Tax correction lines on imported orders are adjustments that are applied in Holded to correct decimal rounding differences between Shopify and Holded. They are only added to correct small differences to ensure that the order and invoice match:

There may be a 1 cent difference between the order in Shopify and the invoice in Holded due to different rounding systems. To avoid this, enable "Automatic Tax Adjustment" in the Shopify settings in Holded. This will ensure that the total will match between both platforms, regardless of rounding differences:

What happens when two countries share the same VAT?
